Mediterranean Cruise

The next time that I decide to go on a cruise, please remind me to NOT. The cruise was excellent in terms of food, but I ate little due to sea sickness--and I was one of the more spiritly ones. After 2 days, the cruise felt more like a swaying prison than a pleasant boat trip. On the bright side, I did learn how to play backgammon, met a group of awesome (mainly Canadian)people, and swam and snorkeled to my heart's content.
Our boat traveled along Turkey's Mediterranean coast, stopping at the cities belonging to the ancient Lycian empire. Since Lycia was one of the Roman provinces, I observed a lot of Roman influences (on their sculptures--depicting the Olympian Gods--and architectures--complete with theaters, agora, necropolis, acropolis, etc). One of the most exciting things I observed were the different type of tombs--such as the Lycian rock tombs that are engraved into the mountain side (refer to previous post) and the many different types of sarcophagi. I think I might have a morbid fascination with graves.
